Piedmont Round Up Club
“We don’t have children to raise livestock; we have livestock to raise our children”
The Piedmont Round Up Club is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
History
The Piedmont Round Up Club was started in the 1940’s. The modern PRUC has been in effect since the early 2000’s and has a membership count exceeding 50 individuals and families. The PRUC exists to promote and support an interest in horses, horsemanship, friendly competition, sportsmanship, and citizenship to the Piedmont community and surrounding areas.
The PRUC helps families and young riders learn horsemanship and how to be contributing citizens while promoting our western heritage. Our goal is to provide our members and community with memories and knowledge they can carry with them for the rest of their lives. We believe that working with horses teaches important lessons in dedication, responsibility, and hard work. We strive to provide a relaxed atmosphere where everyone can learn new skills and build confidence in all areas. You do not have to be a member to participate, but we hope that the friendly casual environment of our play day encourages you to enroll and enjoy the benefits of a PRUC membership.
Play Days, Trail Rides & Parades
Play Days:
Play days are currently held at the arena located at the northwest corner of Madison Avenue and Piedmont Road, land rented by the PRUC. Our play days are held monthly, from March to October. At our play days, you will see us competing and learning a variety of games, from speed events and ranching skills.
Trail Rides with PRUC:
Oklahoma has several beautiful trails and riding facilities for equestrians. We’ve added organized trail rides to our planned events between March and October.
Parades:
The PRUC rides in the two parades held in Piedmont: The 4th of July Freedom Fest parade and The Founders Day parade in September. We look forward to these opportunities to promote our organization and to show our fellow citizens that the western lifestyle is not disappearing. We also enjoy waving to spectators and seeing faces light up at the sight of our horses.
Awards Ceremony
Each year, the PRUC board organized a banquet and awards ceremony to celebrate our members. The custom trophy awards presented during the banquet recognize each member for their PRUC accomplishments throughout the year. These awards vary from year to year in order to make each ceremony exciting for the youth recipients. In the past, the PRUC has awarded belt buckles, spurs, grooming packages, and custom tack pieces which are exciting for young riders to wear on their horses the following year at play days.
